In Her Words
Monday, December 19, 2011
Today we join people around the world who are mourning the loss of Denise Sproul. And we are also celebrating a life well lived.
To that end, we want to share 14:00 minutes with you.

A few years ago, we were producing a television series with Joni Eareckson Tada. Joni asked us to do an episode entitled “When Disability Hits Home”, featuring her friends Charles Colson and R.C. Sproul, both “titans of the faith” who are grandparents of children with disabilities. This assignment took us to Washington, D.C., coastal Massachusetts, Orlando, and yes, to southwest Virginia, to the home of R.C. Jr. and Denise Sproul.
Here is a link to that episode. The segment on the Sprouls begins at about 14:00 minutes (although you may also be encouraged by the Colsons in the first half of the episode).

The Sprouls are, simply, an encouragement to those of us who hope to walk well when we face life’s inevitable hardships. Our friend Mickey Sobeski (the father of Hannah, whose story we’re preparing to tell in a feature film) says often that we all need to be prepared for life’s storms - that Hannah was prepared for the storm she faced.
We are saddened by the loss of Denise. But we are encouraged by her, and by her family. We hope the words of R.C., R.C. Jr., and Denise Sproul in this short television segment might help strengthen each of us today.

Bennett (in the pic with his brother Cole at the finish in AutoZone Park) knocked out his first 13 mile run at the age of 13 in Saturday’s St. Jude Half Marathon in Memphis. The cause of helping the children at St. Jude Hospital made all the hard work very worthwhile - and memorable. Nice work, young man!

Congratulations to all the participants in last weekend’s National Bible Bee.
When attendees weren’t watching the contestants, listening to a fine line-up of speakers, or enjoying a wide variety of recreational activities, they had the option to slip into a film screening in a room we were privileged to have bear our name.
The Bee is a remarkable thing to behold. Stay tuned for more on this front…
