We’re about to release Family Works - Inspiring Profiles of Family Business (Volume One), which includes a segment on Holden Coal, where we filmed over a few memorable Autumn days in Upstate New York.
We were pleased to discover that Mark Holden is speaking at a conference in Richmond, VA this weekend. He stopped by for a spirited discussion with Cole and Peyton (flanking Mark below) at the Franklin Springs booth this afternoon.
We look forward to sharing the Holden family entrepreneurial story with you starting July 1.

Courageous
Tuesday, June 8, 2010
In 2006, while his father was producing a behind the scenes half hour documentary about the making of Facing the Giants, which appeared on the collectors edition of the film’s DVD, young production assistant Cole enjoyed time with the film’s director, Alex Kendrick.

Today, nearly four years later, Cole was on the set of Alex’s newest film, Courageous.

We’re enthusiastic supporters of what the team at Sherwood Pictures is doing with Courageous, a film with a strong core message about the importance of fatherhood. One of today’s scenes was a 5K race involving several of the film’s lead characters.

Cole’s dad was an extra with him in the scene, along with our friends Jim Bob Duggar and the film’s writer/producer Stephen Kendrick (and their sons). A crew from TLC’s The Duggars: 19 and Counting was on set today, documenting their day of being extras in Courageous.

Cole and his sister were also extras in another scene, along with Joshua Duggar and his family.

It was a great day of getting better acquainted with a number of the talented crew members on the film, including second unit cameraman Jon Erwin (who directed Mysterious Islands).

We’re very excited about Courageous, which will release in 2011. Today we were shown several edited scenes that were shot in recent weeks; the film is certain to have a powerful impact with a most important subject matter. Please join us in praying that God’s favor will continue to be with the team at Sherwood Pictures.

We really do appreciate the encouraging notes that come our way. Here’s one from Deborah M. today:
Thank you for such wonderful programs! I just purchased Homestead Blessings’ The Art of Quilting. We now have the entire 10 DVD series. My three daughters and I really enjoy watching the West ladies work together and they have encouraged us in so many ways! We have made our own butter, bread, skirts, grown herbs and can’t wait for some quilting tips!! In a time when so much on television and in the movies is NOT family friendly, your productions are! Again, thank you for offering God and family honoring programs….. I wonder what the Wests’ could possibly come up with next…...
Deborah, please stand by for an answer to your question about what’s next in the Homestead Blessings Series; that’s under wraps for now. We can, however, tell you that we’ll be back in production with them this summer, and we’re planning on having another new title available soon. Thanks for your kind words!

Tammy M. sent us this note today:
Blessings to you and Franklin Springs Media! We all anxiously await any and all new videos from you. Our all time favorite is still A Journey Home. Would love to see a follow up film on their ventures as I know several other people would too.
Tammy, we’d love to do a follow up film on the Waller family. They’re still traveling back and forth to Israel. Perhaps one of these days we’ll have the opportunity to return to Israel and provide a filmed update on their family journey. We enjoy connecting with Tommy and the family whenever they’re stateside.
If you haven’t yet seen it, we invite you to experience the special story of the Tommy Waller family…
