More Than Just Hunting

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

Here’s a new review of our Family Heritage of Hunting DVD from Tiffany at As-For-My-House.com:

“This DVD is about hunting. Sort of.

It does have a lot of talk about hunting in it, and a lot of information – but much of it is only sort of “overheard” in the context of the time we spend with the people involved.

The real story of this DVD is, as the title suggests, about families. Hunting is a means to accomplish any number of important parenting tasks that we might be interested in:

- Spending quality time with our children
- (And even more specifically, quality Father/Daughter or Father/Son focused, individual time)
- Working together as a team
- Setting and accomplishing goals
- Appreciating the majesty of God’s creation
- Potentially providing food for our family
- Allowing children to develop competence, and appropriate self-esteem
- Practicing waiting, and patience
- Following rules and established standards of practice

We enjoyed watching this DVD together as a family.

I would heartily recommend this DVD to anyone who hunts, anyone interested in hunting, anyone who enjoys camping and outdoor activities already, and anyone who might even consider it as an avenue for family development”.

Thanks, Tiffany!

Boring Barometer

Monday, December 13, 2010

From a new review of our Jimmy Gentry film:

When I first looked at this film, honestly my initial reaction was, “Uh, this looks a little boring. I don’t even know who this guy is.” My husband spoke the same thoughts out loud. But we sat down to watch it anyways, and were both relieved to quickly realize that our first impressions were wrong. As with all of the other movies I’ve watched from Franklin Springs, An American Adventure: The Living Legend of Jimmy Gentry was both captivating, inspiring, and a blessing to watch.

Happy With Homestead

Friday, October 22, 2010

From today’s inbox:

I just wanted to write you a quick note to say thank you so much for the Homestead Blessings, The Art of Bread Making.

This DVD is lovely and I cannot wait to be able to view more of the titles in this series. My daughters (4 and 2) insisted that we needed to watch it after I opened it and they love it as much as I do. In fact, our 4 year old insisted she needed to watch it again after supper tonight.

Thank you so much for producing such a wonderful, educational and entertaining video. It far exceeded my hopes for this series (I had heard they were wonderful but I was still slightly skeptical) and I look forward to seeing more of your productions in the future as time and finances allow.

- Crystal B.

And later in the day…

Hello!  I absolutely love your “Art of Breadmaking Video”! Thank you!!!!!!

What a wonderful video, and great work. I am excited to watch my “Art of Candlemaking” next (as a beekeeper, I cannot wait to learn some neat techniques for our beeswax.).

Have a wonderful day.

Bread at Eight

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

Here’s a note from the inbox about an enterprising eight year old:

“After my girls had watched the Homestead Blessings breadmaking film, much to my surprise, I found my eight year old daughter in the kitchen making bread for the first time. The bread was delicious and she was extremely pleased that she did it herself. All from watching the West ladies! Thank you Franklin Springs for a fantastic DVD series!”

Here’s an excerpt from yesterday’s inbox, commenting on the Venture Academy Lecture Series:

My husband is really enjoying the Venture Training Videos . . .  such wonderful information as we work to try to transition someday to him working on his own.

Thank you for such wonderful videos that continue to inspire us and point us to our Savior.
